2007 Arthritis Foundation Annual Report

afar1.jpg

This summer, I traveled to St. Louis to make some pictures for the Arthritis Foundation AR. The little girl above has juvenile arthritis.

afar3.jpg

Her mom is a yoga instructor and part of her treatment is practicing yoga.

afar2.jpg

This woman does water aerobics to help with her arthritis.

Atlanta Magazine: October 08

bobbarr1.jpg

I photographed Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate for president, for Atlanta Magazine.

bobbarr2.jpg

I really love this spread.

bobbarr3.jpg

I really like these black and white portraits on white, too.

Atlanta Magazine: November 08

Yep, that's my paper towel.

Carver's is a meat and three out on Marietta ST. It's been there since the 70's and it's awesome. They fed me and my crew. Then we all had heart attacks.

Atlanta Magazine: December 08

emory_archives.jpg

I went to the literary archives at Emory University and photographed some really cool things like Salmon Rushdie's personal journals and W.B. Yeats' handwritten manuscripts.

Charleston Home: Winter 08

ch1.jpg

I traveled to Charleston to make some pictures of a brunch for Charleston Home Magazine. They gave me a listing on the contributors page.

ch2.jpg

Oysters.

ch3.jpg

The host was French and his mother and aunt spoke little English. They were cute.

ch4.jpg

It was a busy morning for me and the host.

ch5.jpg

The presentation was pretty amazing.

Interface

interface1.jpg

I made some photography for Interface. They make those really cool Flor tiles.

interface3.jpg

There's one of the lake trash images I shot as a personal project. I'm getting a little mileage out of those pictures.

Christmas 2008

xmas081.jpg

We had a great Christmas. We hang our stockings early December and, secretly, we each add little gifts to each other's stockings over the few weeks before we open them up Christmas morning. Finn pulled his new stocking cap from his stocking and proudly put it on by himself.

xmas082.jpg

Melody made this dress for Iliana. She made a similar one for my neice. The two girls wore those dresses for three days straight.

Atlanta Magazine: January 09

top_schools1.jpg

I photographed a feature for the schools issue of Atlanta Magazine. I really love that picture above made at a Parkview High football practice.

top_schools2.jpg

These kids made these robots using a LEGO kit, then wrote code to control them. Pretty cool.

top_schools3.jpg

More from Parkview....

top_schools4.jpg

Some of the big brains at North Springs.

top_schools5.jpg

This is the Dekalb School for the Arts. Super cool high school.

top_schools6.jpg

Best all around: Woodward Academy.

top_schools7.jpg

These little kids were really cute in their lab coats. Kindergarteners.

Interface Core Narrative

interface_core-1.jpg

I worked with Unboundary to produce the core narrative piece for Interface.

interface_core-2.jpg

They take old carpet and process it for making new carpet fiber.

interface_core-3.jpg

Dave collected all this blue trash.

interface_core-4.jpg

Those are Dave's hands holding the book.

interface_core-5.jpg

This was shot at HOK. They have the most beautiful lobby I have ever seen.

Trinidad January 09

tnt_prod_1-09-4.jpg

Went back to Trinidad last week with Iconologic to shoot some more for the Trinidad and Tobago image library. We focused a lot on downstream petrochemicals. Here I am at a methanol plant.

tnt_prod_1-09-2.jpg

Ditto....

tnt_prod_1-09-3.jpg

Justin succumbs to fatigue in the back of the van. We worked pretty long days.

tnt_prod_1-09-5.jpg

Doesn't everyone just love a rainbow? Even from the vantage point of a methanol plant?

tnt_prod_1-09-6.jpg

Martha joined us as art director.

tnt_prod_1-09-9.jpg

Next day at another plant. We had to outfit in all kinds of safety gear.

tnt_prod_1-09-10.jpg

It's hard not to look good in protective clothing and hard hat, but we found a way.

tnt_prod_1-09-13.jpg

We also made pictures at one of the schools.

tnt_prod_1-09-15.jpg

Juliet, Martha and I review images.

Whirlpool AR Shoot 1/2

whirlpool_prod11.jpg

SamataMason is sending me on a two week job for Whirlpool Corp, shooting their annual report. I'm shooting HD video. They will take my footing and pull stills for the printed AR and edit the video into movies for each brand. We've been to Iowa, Italy and Germany. Now we're in Benton Harbor, MI. Heading to Brazil next. Above is an image from Varese, Italy where we had time to visit Sacri Monti.

whirlpool_prod12.jpg

Chapels were built on this mountain in the late sixteenth century. People travel here on pilgrimage. It's pretty impressive.

whirlpool_prod3.jpg

Inside the chapels are statues depicting scenes from the life of Christ. Justin and I are taking a peek inside one of the chapels (you can see Kevin's reflection in the glass).

whirlpool_prod13.jpg

When we got nearly to the top, we stopped at a cafe for a cappuccino and a panoramic view of the valley below at sunset.

whirlpool_prod5.jpg

Justin.

whirlpool_prod14.jpg

Kevin.

whirlpool_prod4.jpg

Me.

whirlpool_prod6.jpg

At the very top was a really beautiful little chapel. We came in just as the priest was closing up.

whirlpool_prod8.jpg

That's Justin and a German taxi driver. Our experiences with German cabbies left us with the impression that they are an embittered clan, only reluctantly devoted to their vocation.

Thanks to Kevin at SamataMason for all the pics!
