new equation

I'm making pictures of some brave little kids suffering from arthritis in Hershey, PA yesterday and today for the Arthritis Foundation.

My grandmother died yesterday. She was four weeks shy of reaching 100 years. She leaves behind five children, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren (soon to be fifteen). In 1976, she was diagnosed with skin cancer and given 6 months. She recovered and lived 31 more years. Melody and I went to see her on Sunday, and she smiled when she saw Melody's round, pregnant belly.

On Monday morning, we flew back up to NYC to shoot some portraits. The job is a series of six interviews between architects and designers discussing topics related to sustainable design and green architecture. We shot the first pair in San Francisco in October.

We shot black and white tight portraits on the cyc as well as waist up color portraits.

We shot some portraits on the roof.

And in the stairwell (c'est moi...) Thanks to Dan for the three shots directly above.

At the airport, we waited in the bar for our flight to begin boarding. It was only one hour late, pretty good for LGA. Dan is smiling because a larger than life gin and tonic was just set down in front of him. It was a full pint glass!

The gin and tonic is on the right. Is that 12 oz. or 20 oz. of Brooklyn Lager?

Glad I wasn't on that little Air Canada Jazz flight (on left). It pushed back from the gate and didn't move from that spot for about an hour.

This week I'm spending two days shooting for a small catalog. I picked up some color neg we shot of the beekeepers today. It looks great. I'll post some later on.

Here's some film I shot on the beekeeper shoot. I love the huge American flag above their garage. In between the two garage doors is a sign that reads 'beekeeper parking.'

When Virginia was a teen, she was crowned the Tennessee Honey Queen. She was kind enough to put on her crown and sash for us!

Friday, we began shooting for the campaign I was awarded in June. The talent and location worked out well, and my crew was great! Cannon made these production shots and shared them with the blog.

The client is reviewing on the laptop some of what we just shot.

I only work with assistants who look like rock stars.
